Isn’t this home beautiful?  I’m a big time fan of front porches.  Patios are nice, but front porches make my heart sing.  “Wild thing, you make my heart sing”…sorry, couldn’t resist.

Yes, please.  🙂

I need to stop daydreaming.  The only way this could ever happen, and on a much smaller scale, is if  I go back to work.  And right now, I’m “not gonna do it.”  That’s my impression of Dana Carvey impersonating George Bush, Sr. ;0

Y’all recognize this one?

It’s the rear exterior of the Ewing home from the t.v. series Dallas.  That was not a happy home.

I’ve been thinking about homes, the nature of a home, and what makes a house a home.  So, I looked up the definition online.  thefreedictionary. com defines it this way:

home  (hm) n.

1. A place where one lives; a residence.
2. The physical structure within which one lives, such as a house or apartment.
3. A dwelling place together with the family or social unit that occupies it; a household.
a. An environment offering security and happiness.

b. A valued place regarded as a refuge or place of origin.

Number 4 stood out to me as the one that we are all striving after…the one that we blog about…the reason that we do all the thrifting, decorating, crafting, cooking and photo taking.
So, during the month of February, I’m going to be doing a series on “Making a House a Home”.  Every Thursday, I will post on a different topic:

~If Momma Ain’t Happy: putting priorities in order
~Taking a Trip Down Memory Lane: remembering traditions
~The Kids Are Alright: the structured home
~There’s No Place Like Home: decorating for your lifestyle
The series will end in a link party on Wednesday, February 29th.
Is there anything else you would like me to cover in this series?  Would you like to do a guest post for this series?    If so, just shoot me an email or message me on facebook.

Until next time,
