I usually just blow on the water when it starts to foam and rise up.  But who wants to stand at the stove and wait around to blow? So, this past Saturday, as I stood watch over the spaghetti noodles, I remembered a tip that I pinned on Pinterest.

I scrambled for my wooden spoon and placed it over the pot in a race against the boiling water.  The water went down.  Then, the water started to rise again…I waited to see if the spoon would work….

Water boiled over and burned out the flame on the burner.

I’m going to give the wooden spoon another chance before I delete the pin from my recipe board.  The source of this tip swears by it.  Maybe I waited too long.  Perhaps I should try placing the spoon over the pot immediately after I add the noodles.

So, for now, I’ve “pin there, done that”, and am going to “go there” again.  I’ll be sure to let you know how it works.

Meanwhile, I’m curious to know if you’ve heard of this tip before.  And if you’ve tried it, did it work?

Until next time,
