This mirror,
this dresser,
and this nightstand were all a part of my parent’s bedroom furniture suite in my childhood home.
All of it was the same wood as the body of the dresser, and the mirror was attached to the dresser. Over time, each piece has been painted and repurposed for use in my home.
Today, I want to highlight the nightstand. It was painted in a cream color. Then umber was applied for an aged effect. However, I felt like the nightstand looked like I rubbed dirt all over it. So, I applied a glaze of water and the cream paint to tone down the umber. Then, I used tried and true sandpaper to distress around the edges.
The original hardware was traded for a newer, vintage style hardware…is that ironic?
However, I still need to replace the hardware on the bottom drawer. (Long story)
I love the versatility of each piece, and more than that, I love the sentimental value.
Until next time,
Sharon
